Award-winning broadcaster and dementia care advocate Angela Rippon CBE will return as the special guest for the Dementia Care Awards 2026, continuing her long-standing support of excellence in dementia care across the UK.
As a dedicated supporter of several leading charities, including The Carers Trust and Alzheimer’s Society, Angela Rippon understands the vital role that initiatives such as the Dementia Care Awards play in celebrating best practice, innovation and person-centred care for people living with dementia.
Angela Rippon has been a familiar face and voice in British broadcasting for 60 years. She is an award-winning journalist who has embraced an impressive variety of programmes on both radio and television for both commercial and BBC channels in Britain, America, and Australia.
The scope and quality of her work has been recognised by the Royal Television Society who entered her into their Hall of Fame in 1996. In 2002, she was voted European Woman of Achievement and in the Queen’s Birthday Honours of 2004 she was awarded an OBE in recognition of her services to Broadcasting, Charity and the Arts. Angela was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to dementia care in her role as development lead with Dementia Friendly Communities.
The Dementia Care Awards celebrate excellence in dementia care services and recognise organisations and individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to outcome-focused, person-centred care for people living with dementia.
The awards pay tribute to accomplishments at all levels and from across the whole of the social care sector, including services for older people, people with learning disabilities and/or autism, inspirational people living with dementia and suppliers of products and services to the sector.
Nominations for the Dementia Care Awards 2026 are now open.
